My 3 year old was rubbing her eye and a few minutes later the lower lid was very swollen. What caused this and should I take her to a docter?

My aunt has pink eye.And thinks she picked it up at a grocery store . Notifygg doctor.More than likely it is itching andw ill begin watering.This is painful and irritating.Doctor will give antibiotic ointment or drops.This is very contagious
