Infant Seizures

Greetings, my son is 6 months. He recently has been diagnosed with having seizures. My husband and I noticed about a week ago that his body got limp all of a sudden and turned blue in the face. We performed cpr and about a minute later he came to. He didn't respond until after some time. He had a glazed look in his eyes. Well he had the same thing happen two more times within one week. They became more intense...His tongue was pushed to the front of his mouth and his mouth was harder to open to breathe into for air. We took him to the hospital and they hooked up an eeg and he had two more episodes. The doctor say the irregular brain activity and said that it is happening on the right side of his brain. We were perscribed trileptal.

I am trying to learn more about these episodes and wondering if other things like diet can be altered so as not to have to take the medication. Thank you
peace

Hi mpenzi.

A limp body and no breathing often follows a tonic-clonic (or grand mal) seizure. The turning blue is from lack of oxygen. Usually, a person will begin breathing again after a few seconds (~10 in my wife's case) but it is always a scary period.

There are a few diets that kids and adults can try (ketogenic, modified atkins, low glycemic, etc.), but I don't know how applicable (or safe) they might be for a 6 month old.
