Q: Cribs

Bf's parents are coming.. Heck, I don't even know when... Sometime this month... To buy a crib and I don't know what else for the baby.

His mom told me to be looking at some cribs to try and pick something out, but my question is, what's a reasonable price for a crib? Of course I want something good and safe, but i'm also not going to ask them to buy something outrageous. It's awesome enough that they're buying it. I would like to find a set with at least a crib and changing table.

I appreciate any input, thanks!

I think 200-300$ is a decent crib price. My mom got trey's but she had "points" on her card so only ended up paying like 80$ in cash and the rest in points. The type of mattress is important too, and a decent one is anywhere in th 50-100$ range. Happy hunting!

Ya they can get really expensive.

Lalee, I like the one with the drawer underneath with bars on all sides (the cheaper one) and just think those are your prices, they cost even more up here!! My next purchase is a toddler bed and gate. Ugh.

They're not the same. :p the first one has solid sides, the other does not, so ha! Hehe.

I like the one with the drawer on the bottom just cause, well, I like the drawer on the bottom. Lol. I just like the looks of the other two better. Starting to lean toward the last one, although i'll change my mind in five minutes.

Be glad you only have to buy one crib at a time. Buying one of eveything is expensive enough and damn I got to buy two

Go to a yard sale or a garage sale for the crib and then purchase a new matress and bumper pad, sometimes you can find sime good deals on those sales and have them fixed up.

I found a good one that had not even been taken out of the box, never used or bought not to long ago for a friend of mine at a yard sale the lady had m/c and the lady just wanted to get rid of all of the stuff, we bought a crib, high chair, changing table, clothes, dress r drawers(sp), bath set, diapers, play pen, swing, pretty much everything, the store would not take it back and we paid $100.00 for everything plus more things such as a ddiaper pail and odds and ends. You can find some deals. That is all they had to do was to buy a mattress because it did not come with one, yes. I do agree, their are times that people do sell a lot of junk!

While we're talking cribs, does anyone recommend a good mattress? I'm reading reviews on babiesrus.Com but it seems like most people only submit a review when they're not satisfied with the product. If I go by those it would seem that all mattresses suck!

And also, what's everyone's take on bumpers? I think they look adorable but if they're unsafe then I clearly won't use them. I've seen the mesh breathable ones but I think those are kind of ugly (again though, safety first!). But I don't want to go without either...

Sorry for taking over your thread lalee! I figured it kind of went with the whole crib thing and maybe you'd be interested in this stuff too.
