Looking for some advice.. I had my blood
drawn a bit over a week ago for a routine
exam. At the time it seemed alright..
I've been stuck with a lot of needles in
my time and i'm quite used to them.
However, that started to change. By the
second and third day after, when the
puncture spot is usually completely healed
for me, it wasn't. On top of that, my arm
was still very sore and slightly blue as
if it was bruised around the needle area.
I wrote it off as the nurse hitting a bad
spot.
After 9 days I can still slightly see the
spot where the needle was inserted.
There's now about a 3 inch long area on my
arm near the needle spot that has turned a
shade of yellow. A bruise still i'm
thinking, but now i'm not so sure... My
arm is still as sore as the day the blood
was drawn if not more. It's tender around
a 6-inch long area from elbow toward hand,
even though i've been "babying" it since
the test.
Am I making something out of nothing or
could this be something serious?
Infection? (nurse used alcohol first and
followed normal procedure) could she have
done some damage to the arm when inserting
the needle? I'm concerned about this, but
I don't want to go to my doctor and end up
looking like an fool if he tells me it's
just a bruise.
