Unsure What's Wrong
Posted: 06-07-06 17:02pm

I'm sure this is one of those common questions, but I couldnt find one with my exact symptoms so I thought i'd ask.

I am 17 years old and sexually active. I have had more than one partner, but no reason to beleive I have any kind of std. Here are my symptoms:

the head of my penis had small red spots. Under my foreskin (i am uncircumcised) the skin is red, peeling, and slightly painful to touch. There also does seem to be a white smegma-like substance, but it is very thin and watery and I have not noticed a smell. The rest of my penis is normal.

From what I can tell, it seems like a male yeast infection, but I wanted to confirm. And if it does indeed sound like a yeast infection, is it something I carry that I can infect girls with? At least two, possibly three girls that I have had intercourse with have ended up with yeast infections, and those are just the ones I know of.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely sounds like a yeast infection. Could be something else though (red spots on head?)

you can definitely transmit yeast infections onto other girls. And girls can give it to you, too, if they are having symptoms.

Most women experience yeast infections. It's not something due to sexual activity or cleanliness, but a hormonal thing. (birth control, depression can play a major role).

If it is a yeast infection, buy some plain unflavored yogurt, and let your penis soak it up for a little bit. It will help with the pain and burning majorly. It also counteracts the cultures in the yeast and makes it clear up faster

i urge you to go to your doctor. If you are responsible enough to have sex with multiple partners at this age, you should be responsible enough to go to a doctor and make sure you aren't passing something around to other girls.

And, perhaps next time, you shouldn't rush into these types of things. Sex isn't just a drunken act, it should be with someone you (if you don't love) at least care about. Meaning: you don't want to catch something from them, and you don't want to give them something. Std's are not sexy.

It has cleared up since but if it ever reappears I plan on visiting the doctor. Would there be any point to visiting the doctor now that it has disappeared?

I knew that yeast infections in women were fairly common but it seemed suspicious that two girls got them immediately after having sex with me.

By multiple partners I meant four, three of which were steady girlfriends and one admittedly a random (but sober) one-nighter. I have been with the girl i'm seeing now for basically a year and a half to two years, so I would say i've calmed down a little. One of the girls I gave a yeast infection to was my girlfriend, the other was the only other girl that I ever had unprotected sex with.

Thank you for the advice and help.

Yeah, not a lot of guys know that yeast infections are sexually transmitted as well....
Good to hear you're on the right track....
....And with one partner at that!

Good luck to you! (both!)

My doctor told me that if a yeast infection goes untreated (yogurt is not considered a treatment), the symptoms can come and go for years.

I'd go to the doctor.
