Gingivitis

To begin with let me give you some background, I have not been to the dentist in two years due to moving and laziness. I know this was a poor decision. I went for a cleaning today at a new dentist. I had a set of x-ray done and then was checked for gingivitis and such. During the this check the hygentist called out numbers while another person wrote what she said. She told me that number 1-3 were good but anything over 4 was bad. She said 5 three times. She told me that four areas of my gums were bleeding. She then told me that they would not be able to clean my teeth because of gingivitis. I would need to come back to have water and something else put on my gums and I would need a prescription. Later, after 4-6 weeks, I would have something closer to a regular cleaning. The dentist checked my teeth and said nothing about this. After this I was sent out of the room to look at the charges for this procedure...The computers were down and I was told they would call me later today. The hygentist said they would not have time to start cleaning my teeth today. It is now 8:50 and I doubt I will be getting a call. What in the world is going on?
