Pof And Ivf??? Please Help!! Posted: 06-11-06 11:30am
Hi I am 26 yrs old and was diagnosed with
pre-mature ovarian failure @ 18 yrs of
age. I am now undergoing ivf my 4th
transfer was may 16th and it was positive
but ended up to be a m/c. I was wondering
if we need estrogen in our body while we
are pregnant until the placenta forms?
My clinic seem to think the embryo
produces the estrogen and I have a very
hard time beleiving that. Please help! I
was on progesterone for a while until I
lost the baby but I need to know if we
need estrogen because woman with pof do
not produce their own! Thank you for your
reply!

I am just now reading your post ~ I have
pof and had twins through egg donor ivf.
And yes - you must have estrogen with your
pregnancy until the placenta kicks in
around 12 weeks. It is necessary since
your body either doesn't produce any or
very little.
I was on oral estrogen that was slowly
weaned from me and monitored 2x weekly
through blood tests.
I would seriously talk to your dr about
this. Good luck!
