Q: Bed Rest Until the End...

I found out today that I am on bedrest until the end of my pregnancy (due august 5th) and that they will probably induce me early, but didn't tell me how early...

Is it normal to feel guilty? I just keep thinking that maybe if I had exercised more, or wouldn't have eaten unhealthy foods, or done this or that...I know that is stupid and I shouldn't feel that way but I just sat and cried all day and felt like I had done something to put my baby at risk...

Thanks for listening

Welcome to motherhood. You will feel guilt for one thing or another for probably the rest of your life.

You never said why you are on bed rest. Unless it was something you purposely did, then there isn't anything to feel guilty over. Good luck!

I am on bed rest because of my blood pressure and swelling, they are worried about preeclampsia...

Which I know is not my fault but still can't shake the guilty feeling, it has just been a long day

talk to you later, thanks for replying

You just rest and relax. Neither you nor the baby need any stress right now. Be good to yourself. Make a list of all the magazines you want and have someone go out and buy them so you can hang out. Rent a gazillion movies and paint your toenails purple! Take care of you and be gentle on yourself (no negative thinking!).

This is not your fault. ;)

I am not overweight, and I am 23...Well, I wasn't overweight until I gained 20lbs in 3 weeks due to the swelling that has partially put me on bed rest...But preconception I was in my normal weight range

thank you, after a really bad day that is just what I needed to hear, from someone unbiased (as in my husband or mom)...After a lukewarm bath and a nap I feel much better...Are you preg now? Do you have any kids already?

Take care

I am sorry to hear what is happening to you! I will hope and pray that you and your baby will be fine but I am sure that you both will be! Is this your 1st? Keep in touch! August might seem such a long time away but it really isn't, heck, I will be older then, it will go by fast! Hope you have a lot of good help, wish I was there to help!
The best to you and yours!

Take advantage of it sweetie!!! I would have loved to be on bedrest. I was tired and sore from working, cooking and keeping house. And while hubby helped toward the end (a little), I would have loved to have had him take on the majority if not all of the household responsibilities so I could have a real break. It would have cut out close to all of the discomfort and stress I was having. Lay back, relax and enjoy the pampering and attention. Feel good about because it's the right thing to make sure that both you and baby are healthy!! See, you're already a good mama!!!
