Where Can I Complain About a Bad Clinic? Posted: 06-18-06 23:15pm
I had an abortion on june 9th. It was
a very hard decision for me to make but I
do not regret it. The only thing I
regret was not looking into other options
for clinics, etc. As most of you know,
when you find out you're pregnant and
decide to have an abortion, the turn
around time is sometimes quite quick.
Anyway, I just felt like the clinic was
very unsympathtic. I realize they
perform abortions daily, but it can be a
very scary experience. First of all, I
pulled into the clinic and there was a
protestor. Something I wasn't
expecting. He yelled at me the entire
way through the door. Then the ladies
asked some pretty personal questions
through the window in the lobby. I
felt they should have waited until I got
in the back. Most of the nurses just
herded us through. The worst part was
when I got into the Dr. Office. My
legs were shaking so bad and I was so
scared and nervous. Not once did he
try to comfort me or anything. He
asked where I worked and I told him (in
media) and he made a joke about calling my
employer up to get the abortion broadcast
or better yet, put it on candid camera.
I thought that was so inappropriate and I
told him it was not funny. Then
instead of telling me what he was going to
do - or even giving me a chance to have
the nitrous oxcide kick in, he just
started the procedure. He kept telling
me to stop moving my legs. I was just
so nervous I couldn't stop shaking.
Then after it was over, I felt I needed a
minute to lie there, but they wouldn't let
me - they needed to herd the next girl in.
The moved me to another room where other
girls were who had just finished the
procedure. I threw up twice, was given
some crackers and water. They took my
blood pressure and after about 20 minutes
told me it was time for me to go. I
felt ok by then, but I just felt it was
very rude and unsympathetic. When the
nurse came in to talk about the
prescriptions they had given us, it was
like a rehearsed script and she said it so
fast I could barely understand her. I
asked her a question and she just said -
read the paper I gave you, it explains it
all and walked away.
Anyway, this clinic was listed on
prochoice.Org as a preferred clinic. I
need to go back for a 3 week check up but
am really scared to go back there again.
Any recommendations of where else I
could go? Anyone know where I can
complain about this clinic?
I live in nc - if anyone wants to know
which clinic it was, feel free to pm me.
I would not recommend it to anyone.
Thank you in advance.

I am in nc.....
Is it by chance this one a preffered
womens health center?
There are better ones in nc, I travelled
out to get mine because I wanted a nicer
environment.

Yes it was a preferred. I just felt like
the remarks from the Dr. Were completely
inappropriate. Also - when you can see a
girl is shaking profusely and nervous - it
would have been nice for him to let me
know what it was he was doing and that it
would be ok. Not that I needed any hand
holding - I realize I made the decision to
be there, but that certainly doesn't make
it any less scary.
