But if you have the father pay support
then he has rights for visitation and
partial custody. Some wemen are better
off with out the mans help. My first born
I raised by myself without state help and
father name is not on birthcertificate so
no rights for him and I do not ask for $$
from him. He has never seen my child
better off for my child. I caught him
cheeting on me and then found out he was
using drugs as well so I did not want that
for my child. Now I am married to a diff
man and have 2 more kids with another on
way. The only assistence I received is

my dh does not have insurance thru his

As of yet . Oh and when did this forum

good for you! I'll probably train in
something, while im on benefits. Then
come off them when im qualified for a
better payed job than just in a store,
where my income will be higher than
benefits, so its worth it. By then my son
will probably be in school too, so i'll
work part time hours during the time hes
at school, and be at home when he is. I
dont see part time hours being more money
than benefits tho so i'll probly still be
on them but less than I am now.

that is fair enough, but I sure wouldn't
want to be trying to study with a 3 month
old teething - don't think even my warped
sense of humour could find that fun.
But yes in the longer term the idea is
great, if only here they would reduce the
cost of getting an education.
Basically if you quit school at 16 (high
school leaving age) and didn't immediately
go to college for what ever reasons then
you are no longer entitled to a college
placement and you have to pay for your
courses.
These range from £200 ($369) upwards and
it isn't feasible to pay those prices
while on benefits.
Some may not know how the uk works.
Everyone is heavily taxed on any money
they get.
Once that tax has been taken off you, you
then have to pay for a license for
television. You have to pay for basic
ammenities - you have to pay for rain
falling on your roof - I am not joking.
Everyone is entitled to a basic education
and a basic health care.
If you chose a private education - you
still have to pay for the basic place as
well (via your taxes), if you choose
private healthcare - you still have to pay
for the basic care as well (via your
taxes).
These don't get knocked off because you
don't use them, they don't contribute
towards the option of your choice.
I agree food stamps with a agreed list of
purchases would be great because then
people who don't need the assisstance and
who play the system would not benefit but
people who do need it would still
benefit.
They should also provide education courses
for people on benefits (for what ever
reason) with concessions.
If you had stayed in school at 16 you are
entitled to free eduation until at least
18, so surely you should be able to use
those 2 years worth regardless?

the government now boost up your money so
you're on a national average.You will get
more help ie rent and council tax benefit
, if you work for approx 16hrs a week.My
college had a creche and it was fully
qualified staff of which if I wanted to I
could have put them in for nothing and if
you are doing a full day at college, you
can pop in, inbetween lessons and lunch
etc to check up on them xx

um yes he naps and I sleep at the same
time in the day because I do everything
myself and im shattered, at night once hes
asleep I have to clean everything away,
wash up, hoover, iron etc, I cant get it
done in the daytime cos hes crying a lot
with his teething. Then once thats done I
have some time to myself or with my
partner. I would go insane without any
time to myself in the evening either on
here or watching tv or whatever. Everyone
needs a break and gets tired especially
doing it mostly on your own. Once he
starts pre-school it would be better to
take course in something.

must be a recent change then. Because
when I was out of work through no fault of
my own and tried to get on an educational
course I was directed to the "modern
apprenticeship" which meant that I had to
work my butt off for 39 hours to earn £30
- yes £30 per week or £48 on standard
benefits hmmm.
I've looked at doing my a-levels but you
know - even working fulltime on £7 p/h I
can't afford it.
Once the mortgage, water, electric, gas,
groceries, petrol, insurances (home and
car) etc are taken out of our wages, we
live payday to payday.

emma, while I 150% agree with you on this
subject, I will tell you that this person
is not going to listen to a word we say
(write). So it is better not to get
yourself worked up over not being able to
'reason' with her. It's ok, one day
she'll look back and go, "oh gee, the
people on that forum were right!"
and if not, then she'll live happily ever
after.
We know what comes first though, right?
