I have been off the birth control pill for
about 6 months and my husband and I have
been trying to conceive with no luck.
Since going off the pill I have only had
my period twice in 6mths. Any
suggestions????

There are several possibilities:
sometimes it takes up to a year or so for
the effects of the pill to work out of
your system;
sometimes (very rare!!) the pill can
actually cause infertility.
Most couples make love rather than try to
fall pregnant (in other words they enjoy
themselves, they're relaxed & so when
it happens it happens, they don't
concentrate on getting pregnant & then
when it doesn't happen immediately get
uptight, not relaxed & of course it
becomes less likely to happen at all &
believe me 6 months is no time, often it
takes people several years).
Have you both been tested to ensure that
you can (both!!) conceive?
As to your period being "out of order"
this too is a side effect of taking the
pill & one experienced by many women.
Nevertheless I would suggest that you see
an ob/gyn & have a check-up to rule
out any other medical condition; have your
oestrogen levels checked & at the same
time (if not done previously) have
yourself & your husband checked to
ensure that you are both fertile, that he
doesn't have a low sperm count & you
might also discuss checking when you
ovulate. I have a floating ovulation(i
can ovulate at any time in the month, some
women can ovulate moer than once a month
& others do not ovulate at the most
common time (about midcycle).
