Hello I'm a New Member And I Really Need Your Help. Posted: 01-15-04 15:13pm
hello to all,i have
just joined this forum and am so glad I
came accross it as I really don't know
where to go from here, here is my story and
I would appreciate any response from you
in the hope that someone can identify with
me.
I had all the tests done two years
ago, scope up and down, nothing found and
was put on nexium for acid reflux which
was very bad at that time,i had it under
control with nexium and watching my diet
until about four months ago, acid reflux
returned again and I found the med was not
working so I was back and forth to my gp
getting nowhere until christmas week past
I was in so much pain under left rib cage
with severe burning that she sent me to
the casuality dept at our hospital,i got a
very thorough going over plus an xray,
nothing showed but I was told I had a
hiatus hernia and was put on losec, when I
got losec I realised that I was put on
this before nexium as it did not help so I
went back to my gp and she said if that is
what the hospital put me on I should stick
with this even though I told her losec did
not work for me, she decided to send me
for a barium meal which I had done three
days ago and on the morning of this xray
the pain and burning was very bad,, I was
happy with this because I thought
something would show like maybe an ulcer
or hiatus hernia, everything was clear I
could not believe it,does a barium meal
show if I have a hiatus hernia?? The pain
under left rib cage starts with stinging
burning and then feels like a knife is
cutting in to me,it starts even when I
dont eat and have no reflux!!! A couple
of times the pain moves accross centre and
feels like a twist at the bottom of the
oesophagus this does not last long.
Please can anyone identify with me and is
there others xrays I should have,my gp is
on holidays and when she returns I will
ask for further investagations.Thank
you.
Sincerely,
hopeful.
