What Makes You Think of Having An Abortion???

Basically I am opposed to abortion but I did choose to terminate a pregnancy where the child (a son) would have been severely mentally & physically disabled - so much so that this sort of problem normally causes the foetus to self-abort before you even know you're pregnant.

I would never want to live like that & we wouldn't even consider allowing a "dumb" animal to face such a life so why would & how can we do it to a human being (when we have the knowledge & the time/opportunity to prevent it??

As to your comment that "you would never(caps) consider abortion"..... No-one can ever know for sure what they would do given the right/wrong circumstances/person/time etc. I do agree that there are plenty of people who would give anything for the chance to adopt a baby but if you were gang raped you might be emotionally incapable of carrying the baby to term & you might not have had a d & c at the time due to shame especially if you were from a strict family or certain cultures where girls are still killed for allowing themselves to be raped. Or is that ok, so long as they wait till after the child is born??

You need to know alot more about the world, people & life before you start condemning anyone just because they do something you disagree with. You should also consider the concepts of freedom, of speech, religion, choices etc.

Hey jordan! :d dont provide purple with any support . Who cares what her reason for abortion was. She thinks its ok for women to have an abortion regardelss of their situation. I already got into it in the abortion forum under the post abortion syndrome topic. ~ erica.

Hi I understand ur feelings I to am against that I hate to say that word let alone type it!! I did reaserch on this in school for a project!It is terrible.
And for some I understand on there part it is an answer.
They come here to remain somewhat anoymous(spelling wrong)and get some input.And I hope in doing that what they get out of it is a good desicion but it's their choice!! That's the hardest thing about this for the baby just wants love!!!! Have you ever seen that story about the baby and the ending of it's life?It is so sad. I know so many babies out there die from defects,diseases etc~it's hard to comprehand why would this be someones choice?
But we are all different in many ways.I just hope the message some take when thay come on here is choose life!!!!!!!!!.And somewhere they have someone to stand by them and help them.I couldn't make a choice with that but I don't have any circumstances that have made me feel that way.
It's very hard to ((for me)) to think otherwise.I have a family member that told her child if she got pregnant that's what she'd make her do I was appalled at that~~so I helped her to be more safe if she was gonna have sex and didn't want to get pregnant she had to be prepared.If she ends up pregnant I will help her anyway I can.I will take her in and help~~but some people do not have help and when they are alone they are left vulnerable!! So I hope this helps you it is on them and iam sure it is a hard road!!!! And I hope that those who come on here to ?? It get help.

Erica I truly pity your children because your mind is so closed that you can't even understand what you read unless it is in 100% agreement with you, I stated that I basically disagree (that means i'm against!!) with abortion, but unlike you I allow for others to hold different views & for people to make different decisions in certain circumstances than they would normally make. Your children won't be able to do that, they will be afraid to talk openly to you about their fears & actions because your mind is closed to any but your views.

My children know that they can discuss anything at all with me & that I will give them all information with an open (that means without judging) mind. That I will stand by them & support them & fight for their rights no matter what or against who.

I kinda agree w/ purple and erica. .For myself, I am against abortion. But I feel under a few circumstances it may be nessesary.. 1) if the mother cannot carry it and is in serious risk 2) if the baby is extremely mentally ill..Like it will barely live anyhow and 3) if someone is raped.. I dont think they should just abort it, but at the same time I understand it could be unbareable and maybe the mother wouldnt be stable enough to carry it anyhow.. But other then that I dont agree w/ abortion at all.

I got into this same arguement a while ago when a girl on this site was pregnant and it was totally unexpected and she was ridiculed for getting any abortion.

I disagree with abortion but as purple and kari said there are certain circumstances where abortion may be necessary and I think it is unfair to criticise any woman for making the decision to have an abortion afterall one of the reasons women can have abortions is because it is there body. It is wrong to say a woman is committing homicide when no other human being woman or not truly knows wot the expectant mother is going thru no one really knows her family life, her history, or anything like that, and no matter how much she may tell u no other person can ever truly understand what another woman feels about an unexpected pregnancy especially one caused through rape or some other horrific event. All us women can do is b supportive and try to understand and those of us who have had personal experiences can share those but no one should be condemned for how they feel or their experiences in life.

We live in a democracy and that is wot this forum is about speaking our minds having input, asking questions, seeking help and just general sharing of stuff.

The decisions we make in life are own and we each as individuals have to deal with those decisions, no one really has the right to ridicule another for a disagreeing opinion.

there is that one percent that I would if me being pregnant would kill me and the baby.

Im not all for abortion as a form of birth control. If u are old enough to have sex then u must be prepared to face any problems that occur from this decision. Lets face it every time we as ppl have sex there is no fool proof method to prevent pregnancy apart from not doing it at all. Condoms and the pill are not 100%.

Sometimes accidents happen no matter how careful we are this doesnt mean that straight away if we are pregnant then seek an abortion.

If ppl feel that they forgot to take the pill or the condom broke there are other methods that will work better such as the morning after pill and things like that, sex and pregnancy I feel is about education and knowing wot to do not being given an easy way out.

I fink purple333 did rite choice cos im in a similar situation. I am anit-abortion but I will admit I am considering it. But this doesnt make me a bad person and I feel my reason r genuine adn I dont think peole should be putti other people down as these forums are meant to be helping people through there desions not mking them feel bad bout themselves even more. I am not tryin to cause and arguement but I dont think you should judge unless you have been in our situations casue you wouldnt no

As I have said on other posts like this one: this forum is to help people with their health problems or questions. Not to just post things that will hurt someone's feelings. There are so many of posts like this one and they serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever! Everyone has a different view on abortion. It is one of the most complex issues we face today. So you can rant and rave and condemn all that you want, but you are not going to change anyones mind with an attitude like that!
So ladies, and gents, let's be here to support each other not to try to make people feel like crap. :d

Number one, I didn't tell anyone to pity anyone. I simply stated that this is not why this forum is here. The girls come here for questions and help. If a girl comes here and says "what should I do" or "what do you think" then by all means, state your opinion. But, when people just come here and start a post like this it makes these girls afraid to even come here for help. Maybe you should ask admin to start a debate forum on here for all of you to go and just fight things out. That way this forum can be used in the way that it is suppose to.
