Starting a New Med?
Posted: 01-15-04 17:43pm

Has anyone ever gone on medroxyprogesterone to start their period? I am late and my doc is putting me on this to start my cycle. There are some bad warnings out there about the med so it makes me really nervous to start it, but I need to know my schedule.

Also, last night I started having sharp pains in my side, down real low and they have continued into today. Is this odd? Dh and I are still doing the bd every other day so I am hoping to concieve any time.

Thanks for you help.

How late are you to start your period? Why are you late? Bcp? Mc? Or you don't know? I don't know anything about medroxyprogesterone but i'm just interested and wanted to say good luck. I had the same pains you did (not preggers, just ttc) and why would you try to conceive if starting something to make you get your period? Sorry if that sounded health forum. Really just wondering. Is that safe? I hope you get lots of babydust. If I had any i'd send you some of mine.

Thanks for the reply. We have been ttc for six months and my cycle has been 30 days, with one missed early on. I'm on day 37 now and called doc yesterday and she said to take these so I can start my period so I can hopefully ovulate. I did ask if we should stop ttc while taking this and she said no?

These drugs are in the x category though so it scares me. She tried to assure me that since no period no ovulating so it woulnd't be harmful to me.

Baby dust to you caracook!

What does it mean that they're in the x category? I'm not into taking a lot of meds so i'm clueless.

I'm not real sure either. Confused Pharmacist just said it was in the x category and that is the highest for birth defects. I have decided not to take it b/c I am in the sixth month of ttc and that just makes me too nervous. Maybe after a year if we have not conceived I will.
