Not An Ovarian Cyst--then What? Posted: 06-23-06 08:48am
I went to the ob-gyn yesterday with mild
discomfort on my right lower abdomen. I
thought it might be my ovary. The dr
agreed and we did an ultrasound which came
back clear. I'm off to my primary care
this afternoon, but I feel sure that the
pain is coming from my ovary, especially
after my internal exam. When she put her
hand where the pain is she said, "that's
your ovary".
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what
else would cause this swollen, discomfort
feeling?

I also have pain in the right side lower
stomache, at first I thought it was my
appendix, but it's been hurting off and on
for a couple of months, but then I thought
I had a cysct or something. I haven't
been to the doctor, but I thought someone
on these forms could help. So if you
find out, please let me know.

It could be the aftermath of a ruptured
ovarian cyst. Cysts are usually
incidental findings but when they rupture
the can cause pain. Ultrasound would show
some free fluid in the pelvis, if the cyst
has ruptured, which can sometimes be
missed.

I have been coping with a dull pain in
lower abdomen for over 5 years, it comes
around day 8 0f my cycle and goes after
ovulation. Sometimes it is so severe I
have to take paracetomal a few times a
day. I have had this checked out time and
time again with ultrasound and nothing
found! A specialist said she suspects
it's the bowel and nothing to do with the
ovary???She said it could be inflamation
or an air pocket in the bowel that presses
on the ovary causing the discomfort. I
was booked in for a endoscopy but did'nt
like the sound of the procedure, yes i'm a
coward but I really believe it is to do
with ovulation because it always comes at
the same time each month.

Yes I do think the pains are to do with
ovulation too! However since day 21 of my
cycle I had a bloody discharge which has
been watery to red blood, I am day 32 and
still getting it? It's worse when I go to
the loo and still no proper period???
