Painful Intercourse Pls Help!!
Posted: 06-26-06 21:06pm

The last few months, having sex with my boyfriend of 1 year has become increasingly painful. I lost my virginity to him, and we almost always use protection, but have failed to do so a couple of times. (i was already experiencing pain, before we had unprotected sex)

we are both very careful when it comes to sex, and are very aware of stds and the risks etc.

I have tried having a break for a while, to see if it was just irritation from too much, and have tried lube, but it is still really painful. Most of the pain seems to be when he enters, and when he withdraws, so im guessing whatever it is, its occuring in the cervix?? Its kind of like a stinging pain, but doesnt hurt when I urinate, only during sex, and a bit the next morning.

I dont believe its an allergic reaction to the condoms because we have been using them for a year now, and ive only experienced pain the last 2 months or so. I am going about arranging a doctors appointment foir a pap test, but was hoping someone might be able to help me out.

Please help!!

Still being a virgin myself I wouldnt be able to answer anything detailed. What I can suggest though is looking "down there" with a mirror to see if anyhting looks sore or inflamed. It may just mean you have to take some antibiotics :)

Something to Try

Hi.
If the pain is at the vulva or vaginal openning, try lubrication like ky jelly.
If it is deep, you need to change positions. If too much stimulation is happening on the front wall of the vagina or up against the cervix, it will cause you to become hypersensative in those areas. This problem will increase over time if you continue. If you are not able to find a positon that improves the situation, you may want to consider learning about some alternative means of stimulation to orgasm as sensativity will be diminished after you have one and intercourse may then be more fun.
Hope this helps.

I know we always think we "know" our partners and what they are doing, when they are not with us, but, we never really know 100% of the time. Was he with anyone else before he met you? Has he been with anyone since you and he have been having intercourse? I know it sounds bad, but, sometimes std's do cause pain inside the vagina. If you are refraining from sex and still having pain, I would try to get it checked out. Most stds are very treatable and curable. Sometimes guys can have herpes etc. Without ever knowing. Just because there is no sore doesn't mean it isn't contagious. Not trying t scare you, but, you may want to think about it. Also a virus that causes genital warts can cause cancer when you get older if not treated early on. Abstinence is best if you are not married, but, if you are going to do it, use protection, and get checked out.

Mermaid19:

i think I know the reason why its painful. Cause it happened to me too.

You may have an allergy to latex(the stuff condoms are made out of) I had no idea and kept it to myself till I went to the doctor and mentioned it. He gave me durex latex free condoms and voila. Everything is fine now!

I strongly suggest you try them out. You can get them at a family planning clinic free, or buy them, they are a bit more expensive than latex condoms. But it will be totally worth it in the end if thats the reason!

Hope this helps!

thought I might add I was using normal condoms for about a year and a half, then it suddenly started to irritate me. Dont dismiss it. Honestly, mention it to the doctor if you go. He would say exactly what I just said.

In this day and time, painful intercourse, irritation, etc. The doctor might say more than it might be from an allergy to latex. It very well could be, but, I would also be concerned about other things. I mean, it is possible she has an std. If it is, and goes untreated, neither she nor the boy know, therefore, when they break up, spread it to others, like my daughter, son etc. Not good.

True, theres getting checked aswell. But I think personally it could be an allergy more than an s.T.I.

The symptoms shes having is what I did. And I didnt have any s.T.I's

I agree with the latex answer. Many people have this issue and there are a lot of different types of condoms out there. Remember to use a godd personal lubircant such as ready lube or other water based lubue since they are the safiest in my opinion.

Best of luck to you :)
