What kind of pregnancy test did you get?

Are you spotting or bleeding? You should call your doctor.

If you're taking fertility drugs, you can get a false positive result with urine tests. Are you on .Chlomid or anything like that?

Why did you test after the doctor's test was positive?

Call your doctor and make an appointment.

I am not saying this happened to you but it can be either a chemical pregnancy or early miscarriage. How far along are you (cycle days)

Hello, I had a false positive test a few months ago. I had some symptoms of pregnancy (very sore breasts) and took two tests. They were both positive. The tests were the ultra sensitive ones that you can take before your missed period. Then a day late, my period came. I went to A&E and got a blood test and they said I wasn't even pregnant! Basically, they said the sperm probably fertilised the egg and then didn't continue with the process for whatever reason. This wasn't a miscarriage as it didn't continue the process for me to be properly pregnant in the first place. They said that because the pregnancy tests are so sensitive nowadays, they detected some pregnancy hormone but the doctor said there wasn't really enough in my blood for it to be a proper pregnancy. Very frustrating!

I recommend using a cheap pregnancy test that isn't too sensitive and if that says you're pregnant, you might be!

Urine analysis tests use an antigen to bind any of the hCG hormone in your urine. The binding activates a pigment in the indicator strips and causes the color or pattern result that shows the result. hCG is a hormone your body begins to produce after fertilization. Test strips aren't perfect, manufacturing defects could make them easy to misinterpret, but that wouldn't explain why both the home test and doctor's indicated a false positive. Some fertility drugs contain the hGC hormone and can cause a false positive. Sometimes conception will occur but the egg will not anchor in the lining of the womb. The body will produce hCG for a brief time after sex. but the pregnancy will not take.
