Signs of miscarriage: spotting, bleeding
and cramps
signs of miscarriage vary, depending on
when the miscarriage occurs. A
miscarriage during the initial weeks of
pregnancy often has few or no symptoms.
The most common signs of miscarriage
include vaginal spotting, bleeding and
cramps. Most early miscarriages are
mistaken for a heavy menstrual period.
Additional signs of miscarriage include
symptoms such as low back pain and
abdominal pain. While vaginal bleeding
and spotting are common, women may also
experience fluid leaking from the vagina,
or they may pass tissue or "clotty"
material through the vagina. All such
symptoms are possible signs of
miscarriage. Any tissue or material
passed during a spontaneous abortion
should be taken to your doctor for
examination.
Twenty percent of women have some degree
of spotting or bleeding in the first
trimester. Not every woman who has
spotting or bleeding will have a
miscarriage. However, as spotting and
bleeding are possible signs of
miscarriage, these symptoms should be
reported to your doctor.
Treatment during symptoms
a miscarriage may be prevented if signs
are detected early enough. A "threatened"
pregnancy refers to a case where signs of
a potential miscarriage exist, but it has
not actually occurred. Activities may be
restricted during suspicious symptoms,
with complete bed rest recommended when
needed. Sexual activity is not advised
until symptoms disappear.

Hey can I ask can u have a miscarriage and
not know that uv had one cos im a healthy
young girl (so I think anyway) and I cant
seem 2 get pregnant me and my bf were
trying for a while and nothin seemed 2
happen I was sick twice at the time we
were trying so I thot I was pregnant then
but I couldnt of been cos I would of had
the baby by now. But I can remember in
january my period came a week early or
something like that and it was the worse
period ever I was cryin in pain I couldnt
move I had 2 lie on the bed cryin cos it
was that sore and my period had lots of
that mucus stuff that normally comes out
when u have a period in it. Could that
off been a miscarraige without me knowin I
was pregnant or something. Sorry for
soundin so dumb!! :? Xx

There is a possibility, but if you period
was a week early, nothing would have had a
chance to 'build up' to miscarry. Chances
are it was an odd, heavy period that also
came early.
Doctors say women miscarry often and
consider it their period, never knowing
they were ever pregnant. So it can
happen.
If you have been actively trying to become
pregnant for a year, it may be time to go
see a doctor and get checked out.

Yeah im not with that bf right at this
moment tho so im not really trying right
now. Hopeing 2 get back with him soon tho
as we talkin things thru so maybe I should
pay a vist 2 the doctors anyway see if
everything is ok with me. Thanks

Oh and sorry again but at the time I had
the heavy period I hadnt had sex in a
month cos my bf was away so if I had been
pregnant I would of been 5 weeks
pregnant!!!Takin that from my last period
before the heavy period came
