Swollen Cheek Posted: 06-29-06 00:03am
Hi everyone. I am 14 and new to this
forum. I have 2 problems and not sure if
they are related.
First, my gums seem to be rising and
crawling over my bottom back teeth. I
dont know if this is an effect of
gingivitis, because an earlier appointment
with the dentist said I had a small case
of that and that I should rinse with salt
water and massage my gums for my gums bled
easily from brushing.
Now one day, one of my upper back
teeth(dont know the right terms) started
aching. I thought it was nothing and that
it would work itself off. A week later I
woke up with my left cheek swollen. The
day after it was swelled up even more. It
didn't hurt unless I put pressure on it.
I dont know if that tooth is causing the
swelling but it felt kind of loose. I
think it is a baby tooth and I know I
still have some.
So please, identify my problem and tell
me what I shoud do to cure it.

I went to the dentist and found out about
that problem.
They dont know the cause of the swelling
but they were able to drain most of the
liquid out to reduce the most of the
swelling. The swelling is causing the
looseness of my molars( I think thats the
right term). It turns out that aching
tooth is actually a new adult tooth and I
have no more baby teeth.
That new adult tooth does not have a fully
formed root, so I have to see a root canal
specialist. The dentist lady said this a
rare case especially for kids. So for
now, every 6 hours I take 1 teaspoon of
amoxicillin out of a 400mg bottle untill
all gone.
Right now, i'm just afraid to see the root
canal specialist...
