Q: Late Ovulation, But Morning Sickness?

I have a long one...Sorry. My husband and I have been natural family planning for the last 2 months. My last period (sorry, I do not know the lingo) was june 5, 2006. I have been trying to track ovulation so that I know what days to avoid intercourse. According to the calendar method I should have been outside my fertile period by june 25. However, when my husband and I had intercourse on that day I had a lot of vaginal discharge and it seemed very wet. It is now june 30th and since yesterday I have had waves of nausea and increased body temperature and cramping. My next period isn't due to start until july 4th. I have just never had nausea and hot flashes like I am having now. Is it possible to have such early indicators if I just ovulated 5 days ago? I suppose I will know for sure by the middle of next week...But I just can't understand why I am so sick to my stomach. I am never sick to my stomach! Any advice?

Generally, no, this soon you would not be experiencing any pregnancy symptoms.

If you are only using the calendar for natural family planning, i'm sorry to say that will not work. You need to take your temperature every morning before you get out of bed and track it. You also need to check your cervical mucous. Clear like egg whites is an indicator that you are fertile. Not how much mucous there is.

Nfp only works as long as you are very vigilant and know your body really well.

I'm sorry but how can you have ovulated on the 25th with a 30 day cycle? That is not correct dear. Your lmp was june 5th your fertile time should have been between 15-22 june. You should have ovulated between the 17-19 th.

I realize that my fertile period would have been between june 15-22. That is why when we had intercourse on the 25th, we thought we were safe. I have been tracking my vaginal discharge and it usually is around the 12th day after my cycle starts that I have the egg white like discharge. What I am wondering is whether it is possible to have such late ovulation, because all of the normal ovulation indicators did not occur this month. That is why I am so confused and to make matters worse I feel like crap! I have been off the pill for 6 months and we used condoms the first 4 months, but I still tracked my cycles. We are okay with the idea of having a baby, but we just wanted to wait a few more months. Anyways, I am still a bit concerned.

Ahhh so you dont want a child!!! Ok I thought you did. I think its too late to have ovulated 5 days ago and you wouldnt feel symptoms this early even if you did. I mean, implantation is anywhere between 6-12 days past ovulation and youre at 5 days! The ave for implantation which gives you pregnancy symptoms is 9.1 days past ovu. I doubt you are dear.

Take a pregnancy test when you period becomes late.

You can ovulate late. That is why nfp is not a good plan unless you don't care whether you get pregnant or not (which you already said you didn't).

Hopefully you have been taking folic acid and such. You need to be taking that 3 months before you conceive.

Good luck!

I have been taking folic acid for a few months now. We were hoping to conceive this fall, but decided we were tired of condoms and thought we would give the rythm method a shot. We are not overly concerned...Just letting things happen. However, I am just worried that I am ovulating too late because I know that this can cause some problems. I am sure I am overreacting...Just need some reassurance. Thanks!
