Taking Diet Pills While Breast Feeding Posted: 07-16-06 14:57pm
I was wondering if anyone has took the
diet pill phentermine while breastfeeding.
I would be buying this over the net and I
wouldn't be getting a true consultation.
It says on the cautions that it isn't
known if the pill can be carried through
the breastmilk. If anyone has any info on
this topic please let me know. I want the
best for my child and if it does cross
into the milk then I will not take it. At
the same time I am eager to get the weight
off! Thanks so much for your help.

In my honest opinion, if the taste of milk
can change via what you eat and if alchol
and caffine can also be passed to the baby
thought breast milk, then I think anything
you consume will be present in the milk.
Even though studies may have not proved it
yet, I think it would be better for you to
be safe rather than sorry.

You should not take phentermine while you
are breast feeding. Phentermine is a
sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to
an amphetamine, and is not suitable for
women who are breast feeding. No doctor
would ever prescribe this for you if you
informed him you were breast feeding an
infant. He would recommend waiting until
you were finished breast feeding.
Many things pass through your breast milk
to your baby, from the tastes of certain
foods to alcohol to drugs.
Phentermine is not save for infants. As a
general rule when breast feeding, if you
wouldn't put it into your babies mouth, do
not put it into your mouth.
