Im pretty sure my brother in law's gf is
lying about being preg and haveing a
miscarrige...So I need to know what
happens when you have one..She says the
doctors left her " baby" in her to come
out naturally...Which my mom(who had a
miscarrige) said they wouldnt do because
she would get a infection. Please give me
all the information you can so I can catch
her in a lie and my brother in law will
finally leave her..Come on no one lies
about this stuff!!

Your mother is correct - the fetus would
not be left inside the woman's body
because it can cause serious infection.
Depending on how far along the woman is,
the fetus would be removed either by a
d&c procedure, or by being induced and
birthing the dead fetus. If a miscarriage
is suspected and reported to a doctor and
then confirmed, all traces of the fetus
will be removed to prevent infection. If
her doctor truly left the fetus in her
after she miscarried, then she would have
fodder for a lovely lawsuit.
Sounds like the woman in question is
lying. Did your brother-in-law ever speak
to his girlfriend's doctor about this
matter? Even if he were to speak to them
in terms of looking for general
miscarriage information and not requesting
anything pertaining to his girlfriend, he
would probably be told the same thing I
explained.

Actually, having very recently (this
morning) found out that I was miscarrying,
I want to correct what was said. The
doctor may wait a week to see if the
miscarriage will finish naturally and then
schedule an appointment to be certain it
was progressing properly at that time. If
the miscarriage did not finish naturally
or was not progressing properly, however,
they would perform a d&c to remove the
fetus.

It is quiet common for the doctors to
leave the baby inside for a while rather
than try to induce with the risk of it not
working they do prefer to see if the baby
will expel itself naturaly before they do
invasive surgery or medical inducement.

It will depend but they will not leave it
for long due to the risk of infection. I
had medical intervention with my m/c

and?
The earlier you are the better the chances
of spontaniously expeling the baby why put
the woman through a d&c if she doesn't
need one?
