Help! Threatened Miscarriage!!!!!
Posted: 07-20-06 15:58pm

Hi,
my last period was 6th june and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant. On monday night my period was 12 days late I was having sore breasts, moodswings and stomache cramps so I took a hpt which came up positive but very weak. I was sooooo happy but then literally 1 hour after the test I went to the bathroom and saw a small amount of blood. My husbands sister is a nurse so we went to the hospital to have it checked out, their pregnancy test was also positive but weak. They gave me buscopan for the cramps and told me to go home and rest.

That night the cramps became severe and I was bleeding but not like a normal period very red and only when I went to pee.
Next morning when my husband came home from work we went straight to private hospital where they did blood hcg test and pelvic ultrasound.
Results: early stages of pregnancy with threatened miscarriage. There was no sign of the baby on the ultrasound either. I was told to go home and rest and if the blood increases to go to emergency again. Meanwhile the blood has changed to a dark brown colour and almost completely stopped for whole day except for 1 4-5cm clot about 1 hour ago.

Today 2 days after first sign of blood I went to take a second hgc serum test and was told that if the results are compared and the levels have increased then there is hope for the pregnancy but if they have decreased then I will definately miscarry. We will know the results on saturday. My stomache cramps have also stopped but my husband and I did another hpt today just to see if it would pick up the hgc levels more than last time and it came negative, I was soooo disappointed but I know that the blood test is most important. Help! The word threatened miscarriage is so frightening!

Im so scerd I need to know if anyon else has been in the same situation and what the results were for them, im really praying for a positive result but dont want to get my hopes up. Please reply
thank you

Thank you for your reply,
well I just came home from the doctor, results came back and I have lost/ losing this pregnancy because the blood test results showed the hcg hormone decresed after 2 days to less than half it was the first test.I know my pregnancy was still early but I feel like someone very close to me has died. I wanted this baby so much and all I could keep asking the doctor was when can we start trying again.

I just want to say that I have read so many womens stories here most were more devestating than mine and im sorry for thier loss. My prayers go out to all of you. I wish for every woman who has been through the pain (emotionally/physically) of a miscarriage to go on to have another healthy pregnacy and recieve the gift of a beautiful baby in the near future.

I'm sorry for your loss. I recently found out I was having a miscarriage too. It doesn't matter how early we find out we have lost a baby, we have suffered a loss, and it is perfectly normal to grieve. You have lost a family member, so try to be easy on yourself.

I very much hope that your husband is supportive. Mine has been an enormous help through this, along with some very special women on both this forum and another one.

I am here if you need to vent, cry, ask questions or whatever. I went through a great deal of denial in the last week, and am still struggling with it. Try not to worry about what other people think, just do what you need to do to get you through this.

My thoughts are with you.
