Hepatitis B - Personal Experiences Needed! Posted: 07-20-06 17:05pm
Hepatitis b has no cure but it does have a
simple, effective vaccine. Nonetheless,
more than 400 million people in the world
have hepatitis b. These are staggering
statistics, especially with the majority
of those being in asian or african
countries. In fact, 1 in 10 asians have
hepatitis b. This often leads to liver
damage. This is particularly detrimental
in california, where I am from, where the
asian population is very concentrated.
I am writing a newspaper article
independently, to be submitted to
vietnamese newspapers nguoi viet
(http://nguoi-viet.Com/), vietnam daily
(http://www.Vietnamdaily.Com/), nha
magazine (http://www.Nhamagazine.Com/),
etc. I am from the bay area in
california, and I am hoping to translate
these articles into other languages, as
well. These include chinese, korean, and
filipino newspapers. These asian
populations are the most impacted by
hepatitis b in california.
This is part of a non-profit project I am
starting to spread awareness about
hepatitis b, intended to educate and
encourage vaccination against hepatitis
b.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone
could respond with how hepatitis b
impacted their lives or the lives of
family or friends. Clearly this is a
major issue in the asian community but
does not gain enough publicity, drowned
out by sars, bird flu, etc. By
contributing your own personal story, with
your permission, I can add it onto the
article to add a personal element about
living with hepatitis b.
