Fibromyalgia, Lupus?? Possible Vascular Rash Posted: 07-21-06 21:44pm
I'm new just today. I'm a middle-aged
woman, a young 58, almost 59 and I started
out with discolouration of both my feet
which I thought was a tan from the
previous summer but my spouse said tans
fade from year to year.
My doctor referred me to a physical
medicine doctor and he questioned me
seeing him, only because I had a morning
appointment with my rheumatologist, same
city and my doctor thought, i'm going to
be in the same city for my morning
appointment, so why not try this new
doctor for an afternoon appointment. So,
I went to see him and he questioned me
being there and why would my doctor send
me to see him. So, anyway, once again, I
had x-rays done of my feet.
It was almost nine long months or more
before I phoned the radiologist to find
out what was going on, why hadn't he
returned my doctor's calls. And she told
me the same thing. I tried one more time
and the receptionist at the radiologist's
office, told me I had mild arterial
calcification of my right heel,
artherosclerosis, even.
Still no answers, so went to see a
dermatologist in another city and he just
gave me a cursory examination and said I
had "leaky" veins, I suppose, meaning
capillaries, so suggested the
radiologist.
Then a long wait period and I was
recommended to a general surgeon (i
thought he was a vascular specialist) but
he sent me, by way of my walk-in clinic,
to another doctor, this one an internist.
He saw nothing wrong with either my feet
or my legs, that I should be monitored
between he and my doctor. I've had this
rash beginning sometime this year, maybe
early summer.
I subscribe to a website site and I saw
the words, help i've got a rash, clicked
that on a read through many links about
one's skin, the top layer, the second
layer and on down and i've come to the
conclusion, possibly, that I have a
vascular rash which might have something
to do with connective tissue disease,
somewhere throught my top layers of
skin.
I've had fibromyalgia for about two years
and i'm going to start checking out
lupus.
I don't believe a rash on one's inner
arms, thighs and legs, appears for no
reason.
I do know that the vein problem I have
with my feet is because of valves that
don't work right and blood in these veins,
flows in the wrong direction and so, i've
been wearing these support pantyhose,
recommended by a dermatologist only
they're considerably snug and that's at
the lightest possible compression.
My jury's out right now and so, I continue
to do my own research.
Anyone have any ideas?
By the way, just so you all know, i'm from
canada but heck, health problems are the
same regardless of the country one is
from.

Hi, my story is a little different and
dont know if I will be much help. This is
my first time here and I have been
diagnosed with lupus for 12 yrs now. All
of a sudden my last ana lab showed a
negative result. This has never happened
and it may be a fluke so they are re doing
the lab. However, my rhem. Dr. Is now
bringing up possible fibromyalgia. I am
new to this idea and am trting to get some
info on it. But you questioned the rash
on you legs and feet. I know with lupus
you can have rashes that last a long time.
They are sometimes raised under the skin
and almost look like broken blood vessels.
The famous butterfly rash across the
bridge of the nose and across both cheeks
is the most obvios lupus rash. So yes,
please check out the lupus rash and get a
doctor to run an ana lab test. My first
symptom of lupus was a rash from my throat
down to the trunk of my body. The doctor
I saw had never seen anything like it
before and had to look in a book to give
it a name. It lastest about 8 weeks.
Once the rash disapeared then other
symptoms started to show up. Mostly joint
pain. Fevers, and stiffness in my knees.
The most bothersome symptom for me was how
tired I became. All of a sudden I could
not pick my head up off the steering wheel
to drive home from work. It is a very
scarry feeling trying to drive home and
fighting to stay awake long enough to get
home.
How long have you had fibro? I am
wondering what the major complicatiom are.
Right now I dont know anything about it,
hope I was able to help some.
