Am I Still Pregnant? Abortion Complications? Posted: 07-22-06 08:32am
Im 15 and I had my abortion on june 17th
at 6 weeks along. I hardly had any
bleeding or cramping. They put me on
birth control the next day and I stupidly
had sex about a week later, and took ec
the next day. A week after that I went to
africa on vacation and started to feel
nautious, without an appitite, tired, and
had headaches. I bled for five days at a
time twice throughoout the 2 1/2 week
trip. The blood was light but my abdomon
was in so much pain with sharp pains
around my ovaries.
I'm now home and I feel very bloated and
subconciously I feel pregnant.
Am I over thinking this? Has anyone had
signs like this lasting this long after an
abortion? Could it all be in my head or
maybe from traveling? Do you bleed after
ec? What about after effects of abortion
complications? Sorry for so many
questioins! I just need some reassurance
or advice before I consult a doctor

Someone else came on here about a week ago
and asked the same sort of question(am I
still pregnant after abortion)
unfortunately it got deleted due to some
problems with the site.
Anyway, what kind of abortion did you
have?
And yes most girls do still have pregnancy
symptoms a while after abortion, I was
still getting them about a month after.
I think its like 1/100 women who have an
abortion and it not sucessfully work.
Have you been for your check up?
Sorry I havent answered many of your
questions but I hope I put some rest to
your mind.

I am not a dr but I do agree partially
with cherry88, part of it might be from
the abortion, I bled real light after mine
too but a lot of your symptoms could be
from the b/c pill that they put you on.
Have you taken a hpt? About the only
thing I could suggest is to go get checked
out with your dr as we are all different
and the pill might be causing a lot of
this. Cairifairy is very good on this
topic, she has been a lot of help to those
who have had abortions!

One thing to consider with your situation
is the amount of activity you did have
after your aboriton. After an abortion it
is pretty common to have more bleeding if
you are more active, or if suddenly start
activities soon after an abortion. You
went on vacation, so your body definately
did have some stress associated with
travel.
Since you were on the pill for 1 week, you
were protected from pregnancy =) the
bleeding and spotting pattern you had on
the trip could be from a combo of using
the pill, taking ec, and having the
abortion.
Anytime you have pains, you shouldc
ertianly seek the advice of your doc. It
could have been from your trip, and the
activities which you would have
participated in.
Usually women are told to take it very
very easy the first week-2 weeks weeks
after an abortion.
Hvaing sex soon after an abortion can
cause an infection, but you would have a
higher fever associated with an infection.
You would have noticed an infection, I am
sure of it...

Thanks everyone!
I was telling my mom about the symptoms,
she doesnt know about the abortion, but
she was suggesting that it may be some
sort of an ovarian cyst (?). Does this
have any corilatin with an abortion or
have any of the similar symptoms - weight
gain, abdominal pain, headaches?
Sorry for stretching my questions out so
far! I enjoy hearing what everyone has to
say to help me out!

Some of it could be from your activity
level after the abortion...
Birth control can also cause bloating the
very first few months you use it...
Have you been back to the doctor for your
post abortion check-up??

I was unable to attend the appointment
because I left so soon for my trip, and
was gone for so long. I wasnt around
anyone who knew, so I had no one to talk
to and didnt feel comfortable asking a dr
I was unfamiliar with.
Thank you for all of your suggestions and
possibilities... I'll do the smart thing
as well and see a doctor for even more
reassurance

I had a tablet abortion in march and had 4
periods since then but ive suddenly
started having tender breasts with white
tips on my nipples and lower abdominal
pains on my left side and tiredness is
there a chance im still pregnant. I have
done 3 tests and they were all negative
and I havent missed a period since
