What you have is more than likely
dysplasia. Which is caused by the hpv
virus. Your doctor did a colposcopy and
biopsy to make sure the pap smear was
telling the whole story (pap smears are
only used to checking to see if something
is wrong. They are not used for
diagnosing anything.). The
colposcopy/biopsy must have confirmed
there were dysplastic cells - although it
sounds as if they must have been low
grade. Or else they'd have done another
procedure to remove them.
You can search the internet for the term
hpv and find a lot of resources and
information. There are many different
strains of hpv, the lesser variety cause
warts, the high risk variety can cause
cell changes on the cervix (which can, if
not caught, cause cancer. However that
takes a very long time.). There is no
cure for hpv, so you doctor wouldn't have
a treatment for that.
Keep up on your pap smears every 4 months
like your doctor recommends. Hpv and low
grade dysplasia can clear on it's own.
Don't smoke and make sure to take vitamins
every day.
