Do It Or Don't I Have Lupus, That Is My Question!! Posted: 07-22-06 18:09pm
Hello! I'm 17 years old and when I was
about 7 years old I came home from school
one day and took my stockings off (it was
in winter) and had red bumps all over my
legs. So we went to the docter, who
brought up my medical history, and turns
out my dad's biological mother (he was
adopted, obviously) had serious lupus. He
ran some type of antibody or what not test
and diagnosed me with underlying lupus.
Eventually I developed raynaud's
phenonmenon and I deal with that anywhere
from 3-8 times a day depending on the
weather and room temperature. I always
get raynaud's after I eat, always. And
occasionally if I rest a cold glass
between or on my thighs i'll get these
huge welps that burn and eventually go
away once warmed up again. My specialist,
the one that diagnosed me, retired. Once
I switched to a new regular physician he
tried to say that the tests run to
diagnose me were basically theoretical
caca, but how he can he say I don't have
lupus if I display all of the typical
symptoms? When I tell you i've tried
every kind of allergy medication behind
and over the counter, i'm not kidding you!
Not to mention the ridiculous annoying
raynaud's. Anyone on this board know what
kinds of blood tests are ran?
Ughh.. Medical problems.. Suck. To say
the lest, huh?

Well my rheumatologist does a bunch of
tests but the thing that confirmed my
lupus was my positive anti-dna. That was
a while ago though, and my recent blood
tests have been negative. I have no
medical training, just so you know.
I too have raynaud's. But it's fairly
mild. I only get it in my fingers and
toes, and it needs to be like less than 10
degrees celcius at least. And it's mild
enough that it doesn't stop me from using
a pencil or typing.
Yes, being sick can suck. Historically,
i've been extremely healthy and fit
person. But I just had an oncoming
sickness over the past 1.5 years.
Probably seen the doctor more times in
this period than the last 15 years of my
life.
