Postpone Period One Week Even With Sex Posted: 07-24-06 21:36pm
I'm leaving for school in 3 weeks and i'm
leaving my boyfriend, the thing is that
i'm supposed to have my period the week
that I leave. I was thinking of either
getting my period now or just skipping a
week. Usually I wouldn't care about
skipping a week but my boyfriend and I
just started having sex, is it bad if I
push it back a week or should I just get
it this week?
Thanks

It is a very bad idea to pull it back one
week, because your body needs those
horomones for 21 days in order to prevent
ovulation... Trust me, I just
accidentally did this to myself last month
and I am so terrified right now! Are you
on tri-phasic pills or are they all one
dose, all month long? I also learned
because of this experience, that
tri-phasic pills like ortho-tri-cyclen and
ortho-lo are nearly impossible to skip
on.
Extending is safe; pulling back is not!!
I don't even know if/when I ovulated!!
Scary!

It's not bad to extend a week, extending
won't lower their efficiency. However, if
each week your pills are different colors
and the dosage varies (i don't know
whether or not alesse does this) per week,
then you're probably not going to be able
to skip your period, from what i've heard.
You may possibly spot instead of get a
full period, or your whole period could
just come anyway. Silly bodies, they
don't like listening to us :p
