I had a volvus (twisted bowel) five years
ago and my colon never regained function.
I have since had many hospital stays and
surgeries, the last one resulting in a
total open colectomy. That surgery
resolved my dehydration issues but did
nothing for my severe constipation. I am
one of those rare people who developed
"gut paraylisis" folowing a volvus. From
trial and error and many forum suggestions
I came across a "morbid obese" medication
called "xenical"...It has been a answer to
my prayers...It takes the fat from the
meal and places it outside the stool
allowing me to have a near normal bowel
movement. I have tried hundreds of
other medication over the last five years
and this is the only medication I have had
any success with. My insurance will not
cover a penny of this very expensive
medication because I am being prescribed
it for an "out of range" use. My doctor
has prescribed it and submitted it again
and again to my insurance without success.
The last time the insurance company asked
for two other patient cases for the same
use...If anyone out there is using this
medication for constipation
please...Please...Let me know. Thank you
so very much. In addition if a doctor has
prescribed it for this use, please let me
know. My doctor would love to talk to
you.
