Unilateral Leg Arm Spasms, Speech Impediment Posted: 07-31-06 15:03pm
I am a 40 yr old female. Hx s/p
hysterectomy salpingoopherectomy bilateral
in feb 06. Easter am woke with difficulty
speaking this happened the next day also.
Then teus. Woke to no speech diff. But
was off balance. Went to Dr. Then
started having leg and arm spasms by the
time I got home. Went to er had cat scan
and bloodwork. Negative exams. Given
klonipan.
Over the last 3 months I have had mri's
eegs bloodwork and have been going to pt.
I have seen my neurologist and a neuro
spec. In boston for movement
disabilities. All tests have been
negative. Noone had ever seen unilateral
spasms rt side and speech diff. They
first thought medicine related then
thought anxiety. Those have been ruled out.
The next suggestion is maybe a virus in
my nervous system. The longest I have
gone without symptoms is 2 days in a row.
I have not had a lum. Punctue yet. But
that is the next on the agenda. My
primary wants me to go see another neuro
and start over. I go to pt 3 times a week
for 1 hr sessions. They are using
neurofascial on me. I feel that it has
decreased the number of severe episodes
that I have.
The problem is noone seems to know what to
do with me. I have not been able to work
since this has occured due it coming on so
suddenly and not knowing how long or
severe the symptoms will be.
I desperately need to know if anyone else
has ever heard of this happening to
someone else. Ans if thereare other test
to be running. I use a cane most days
sometimes a walker and severe times a
wheelchair. That is when it gets so bad
on the right it starts spreading to the
left side.
Any suggestions are welcome
sorry this is so long but it isn't even
the half of it.
Thank you for your time
