I had the awful experience of going
through what I was told was going to be a
painless colonoscopy. The prep was bad
enough, whereas I was passing mostly
gatorade/laxative for hours on end. But
the day of the procedure, I was
administered a very little relaxant and I
had an excruciating painful colonoscopy.
I was told I had a very angular portion of
colon and an irrital bowel syndrome.
Even though I was sedated, it was one of
the most painful procedures I have ever
had. The good news is my results were
negative for all my trouble.
The doctor was a colo-rectal surgeon,
rather than a gastroinenterologist and
believed in very little sedation. He
seemed very unaware of me and the pain I
was in. I will never see him again.

Colonoscopy Pain? Posted: 08-05-06 00:12am
I have colonoscopys every 6 mo . Sooner
when needed.
I have never had pain as you speak of
during mine, so I am greatful for that. I
am usually awake somewhat during the
procedure.
Just wanted to try to help some who may
come and be afraid to have 1 for the pain.
Only thing I hated was the crap I had to
drink, puked it up, so Dr. Always gives
me pills to take now to clean me out.
