Hi, I am so very worried about my
fertility..I was diagnosed with having
chylamidia 2 years ago, and was completely
shocked. I only got tested as had broken
up with my one and only boyfriend who I
had been with for 4 years..I was treated
straight away, and the fact that c can
lead to infertilty absolutely terrifies me
as my sole purpose in life is to one day
have a baby, I am 22 now. People have
told me that they have to say it is very
serious and can lead to infertility so
that it scares ppl into using protection,
however it is not just a scare tactic as I
am hearing and reading more and more about
ppl who are infertile as a result of
having c. I do not have nay idea how long
I had the infection for, it could have
been for the whole time or the last few
weeks, there is no way of knowing..But is
there anyone out there who has had a baby
or knows of someone who has had a baby
after having c for more than a year??
During the last year of our relationship I
was expriencing pain during intercourse as
if there was a cut in the entrance of my
vagina, but no blood, and this pain wud
make this area sore for arond 24 hours, so
in the end I just went right of sex..The
doctors never tested me and said it was
due to me being tense, or once the vagina
has experienced trauma, (i.E. I was
cut/hurt at one time during sex with him
for example) the body remembers this, and
it could also be scar tissue..Anyway now I
have learnt that pain during sex is one of
the symptoms of c, I was wondering if
anyone has a similar experience re the
pain? Also does it only lead to
infertility if you have pid aswell? As I
don't think I did as didn't have any
abdominal pain..I wish so much the doctors
had examined me then..But now my only
concern is my fertilty, and to top it off
I have had v irregular periods for the
past 2 yrs since coming off the
pill..Thank you x

You know just browsing though here I came
up to your board and i'm actually in the
same situation here. I'm 22 and was
diagnosed with chlamydia in 04 but was
never told till 05 and was treated then.
My concern too is fertility b/c I
desperately want a baby. My fiancee and
I are trying for one but it has only been
a couple of months. I think since you
and I are young that our body has time to
recuperate with c. In the other hand,
have you tried having a baby b/c
specialists and doctors won't test you for
fertility until you have been trying for a
year? I am also looking for answers and
I did speak to my doctor and he told me
that I shouldn't worry that I should see
what happens. But in the meantime, it
has been nerve racking for me every month,
trying to find out if I am pregnant or
not! If you have any new info, please
share them with me b/c what my doc is
telling me isn't comforting at all!!!

after having had similar symptoms to
winnie with the pain during sex and
bleeding i decided to go to my doctor and
asked to be screened for chlamidia, as you
guessed it came back possitive. i had
already been reading up on the lasting
effects while waiting for the results and
had terrified myself. i too was desperate
to have children one day and the thought
of not bein able to nearly drove me to
depression. i also couldn't determin how
long i had been infected. this also added
to my anxieties as i had just got engaged
to my partner of 4 years. he too took the
test and found out that he didn't have it
which proved i had had it 4 longer than 4
years. then just after xmas this year i
started getting alot of breast pain, a
pregnancy test revlealed i was pregnant to
my amazement!! i just came across your
messages and thought i'd join thesite to
give you both some hope. good luck.
