Okay, this started in June... normally, on
the 22nd or 23rd of each month, my
menstrual cycle begins. Last month,
however, it started on the 15th -- a week
early. Now it's August and I still haven't
had a period! The last time that my fiance
and I had relations was about the 14th of
July.
In the past two weeks I've experienced
some moderate cramping in my hips, which
usually happens a week prior to my
menstrual cycle. I've had no signs of
early pregnancy at all, although I am
fatigued because I work tweleve to
thirteen hour shifts at night and get on
average six to seven hours of sleep. I've
also have a very bad summer cold for the
past two weeks.
In the first two years of menstruating, my
periods were very heavy and irregular,
lasting anywhere from 3 - 8 days with
extreme cramping and often times bleeding
accidents. When I do menstruate, I still
experience heavy bleeding and cramping,
but my periods always last 8 days.
Is there anyway that I could be pregnant,
or that my horomones and job could have
something to do with missing my
period?

Missing a period is the first sign of
pregnancy, but it is not 100% valid
evidence of a pregnancy. That’s why
doctors recommend women first take a home
pregnancy test. If the test is positive,
then you are pregnant and you can visit a
gynecologist for ultrasound confirmation
of the fetus. If the test is negative,
then you are not pregnant but are
experiencing menstrual irregularity.
Menstrual irregularities are usually
caused by hormonally active ovarian cysts.
In these cases, the period usually comes
late and is heavier than normal. If you
don’t get your period in 2 weeks, you
can go to your gynecologist for an
ultrasound examination.
