Ugh, you guys are me! I'm on a vegan diet until september with my friend because she's on this new 'au naturale' kick and she begged me to do it with her...So now it's a challenge to see who can stick with it the longest! I'm craving ice cream now like you wouldn't believe, though.

Vegan diets are not real safe. There are things you need for your body that you can only get from meat

There are plenty of things you can use to substitute meat - like soy and nuts and tofu. However, you have to be really careful to make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet. Veganism is not just about not eating meat - it is also about having a healthy lifestyle. You need to learn a lot about nutrition and read labels to be a healthy vegan.

Good luck! I rarely last very long in my vegan phases. And I can never totally give up everything - like dairy. I find I end up craving fish a lot too.

Actually veganism is very healthy if you do it right and know where to get everything you need from. Vegans actually have a 10 year greater life expectancy. I was vegan for a couple months before I got pregnant and it made me feel amazing. I felt so much healthier and had tons more energy. Our food is full of chemicals anyways. I can't wait to go back vegan after the baby gets here (it is way too hard for pregnancy).

Zany, since being pregnant I don't like ice cream anymore : s... Or pizza.

Ooh.. I've gone off certain foods since becoming pregnant.. But I still love sweet things!

I think I could handle vegetarianism.. But a life without cheese is unimaginable to me.

Haha, ehealth took kil/ling out of my sentence...It was supposed to say that you guys are kil/ling me. Not that you guys are me. ;)
not to worry, mel, i'm getting a ton of protein. Peanut butter, soy nuts, and tofu (which isn't as bad as it sounds!). Plus, shan and I are cheating and eating tuna fish, and a controlled amout of dairy...But aside from that, everything is organic and vegan! But my aunt's a doctor and she approved the diet (i have a plan of what I can and can't eat), because i'm still getting all the nutrition I need.
Aside from the fact that I am having a few junk food cravings, I love the feeling of eating healthy and just being healthy in general. I also have been doing a serious exercise regime (sp?) to go with the diet, and I have so much energy, and I feel so much better! The whole diet thing started out as just a spur of the moment thing, but i'm going embrace it as long as I can take it. ;)
enjoy the banana split, zan! Lol. :)

When I was pregnant I couldn't stand bacon, it made me heave! Funny thing is, even though i've had my baby now, I still can't stand the thought of...God this is hard to write cos it's making me feel really sick...Bleugh....Scrambled eggs and baked beans. Together. My hubby loves it. Excuse me....Bleugh!!!!!

Speaking of ice cream though...I love ben & jerry's cherry garcia...*drool* it is the best!!! Not the crappy yoghurt version though - the full fat 'sod the diet' version.

Actually I was a vegan for about a year and i'll be honest I lost alot of weight but I was exercising constantly, ingi is right about making up with other foods though.

I became anemic during my vegan stage and had to take iron pills, just make sure that you are getting enough vitamins if you have to eat substitutes but if you are exercising your calorie intake has to go up meaning eating double.

Zany I know pregnancy is fun eating all that junk food but if I didnt eat all that junk when I was pregnant I may not have gained an extra 50lbs I dont need just try to eat abit healthier I have been exercising/eating healthy for 2 months and just lost 4 lbs.

Just remeber its okay to treat yourself just not everyday
