We're in the home stretch. 5 days left
until my due date. My doc says that .I'll
probably go into labor in the next couple
of days, but that if i'm still around on
.Tuesday then we'll go ahead and induce.
Good enough for me and my husband! So now
.I'm taking my sweet time tying up all my
loose ends (housework, making sure all
bills are paid up, repacking my hospital
bag for the millionth time) as well as
nursing a sprained ankle.
Well, apparently "tuesday or before" isn't
good enough for my family. I get at least
two phone calls from .E.A.C.H family
member a day asking if I have any symptoms
of labor. It's a bit annoying, but I go
with it, and calmly explain that I
*promise* .I'll call at the first sign.
Well, today it went totally overboard. My
stepmother point-blank asked me if my
husband and I were having sex to try to
encourage labor. Talk about uncomfortable
silences. I told her no, because my ankle
hurts and .I'm extremely worn-out by this
point. She recommended that I break out
my breast pump, since it might bring on
contractions. I reminded her (bit annoyed
at this point) that .I've read that can
cause breast infections, and .I'd really
rather not. Then she asked if my ankle
was too swollen for me to take a long
walk.
I am .N.O.T going to walk on a sprained
ankle to bring on labor! It'll either
happen on its own, or .I'll have an
induction in 5 days! I don't feel like
putting strain on an injured foot because
they're impatient. She told me that it
would be "really nice if you had her this
weekend, because it'd be more convenient
for us to come to the hospital." well .I'm
sorry, but that's a little bit ridiculous.
Now that I have a clear-cut idea of when
my baby's coming, .I'm no longer in a rush
to try to force her out, and I don't feel
that it's proper for someone else to
expect me to injure myself for their
convenience. I understand that they're
excited. I am too! But come on... Lay
off just a little. Let me spend my last
few days relaxing, and keep your fingers
crossed that .I'll go before .Tuesday.
Sorry, just needed to vent. I'm so sick
of defending myself over the phone to
relatives as to why .I'm not bending over
backwards trying different "techniques"
when I have a definite induction date and
a thumbs-up on possibly going earlier than
that on my own.

I felt the same way at the end of my
pregnancy..My mother in law was always
saying things that made me quite
uncomfortable. She would tell me and my
husband to "go have fun" something along
those lines. And she would always say
things about my husband stimulating my
nipples to try to induce labor. It made
me want to gag. Now she says things about
us using birth control because we don't
need another baby. Also everytime I said
anything about my back hurting or anything
like that, my family members would say
"are you in labor". For the last week or
so I didn't even want to call anyone
because the first thing they would say is
"are you in labor?"
don't apologize for venting, this is a
pregnancy forum, most of us know exactly
how you feel!

Wow,if that was me I would have been
outright mean and told them not to call
until I call them and I would have told
mil to mind her own business and take a
walk by herself! Damn that got on my
nerves just readin it!
she told me that it would
be "really nice if you had her this
weekend, because it'd be more convenient
for us to come to the hospital."
lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What, you mean you can't make yourself go
into labour at a chosen time?!!! How
very selfish of you! :d

At least you aren't overdue! Imagine how
much your being overdue would
'inconvenience' them!
Turn off the phone. It sounds silly, but
after being more than a week overdue with
my last one, I know that is the only thing
that kept me from being in tears every
day.
Of course that didn't stop people from
dropping by, but I really tried to be out
as much as possible - to avoid them.
Treat yourself extra special these last
few days. Paint your toes (if you still
can), take a long bath (you won't be
getting one of those uninterrupted for a
long, long time - possibly never, i'll get
back to you on that), rent some movies
just for you and enjoy your time. The
baby will be here soon and everyone else
will just have to wait.
