Head Pressure, Adding to Problems
Posted: 08-06-06 02:26am

My name is will, I am 24 years old.

I do not smoke, drink, or do drugs.

About a year ago I removed caffeine from my diet.

I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

I weight roughly 250 pounds, and the doctor has expressed that I should lose weight. However, I am nowhere near obeese.

In mid-2005 I began having small "pains" in my forehead. They were really just small annoyances. They generally traveled from the front/right portion of my head and would occassionatlly go to the top of my head. It felt more like a tickle than anything.

They have continued, and I am seriously wanting to know what is going on.

I have narrowed it down to three things.

1) after visiting the doctor she diagnosed me with high blood pressure. However, I have struggled with the fact that I have done everything she's asked me to do to lower it, and these head pressure spells are still occuring a year later. Also, upon taking my blood pressure, very rarely was it ever high.

I believe that much of my high blood pressure is stress related. Including readings in the doctors office (after being in the initial exam for an hour, and her ruling out all other factors I became relaxed and she noted my bp had decreased.)

2) I have had a cavity in my back, jaw tooth for 3 years. It has not been a problem as far as pain is concerned. It is out of site, and I wanted to wait until I got out of school to take care of it unless it became a problem. I do have an appointment with the dentist set up for this october. Though, I am wondering if that cavity could be the problem.

3) about a month prior to my trip to the doctor I sneezed very hard and accidentally pinched my nose. It was incredibly painful, and even rattled my teeth. In the following hours afterwards the right side of my head developed a large area of pressure (felt similar to that of a sinus infection.) it is blurry, but I don't know if my pains started before or after the incident.

If they started after, could these pressure/pain spells I am having be rooted in that?

I have always had sensitive sinuses (about twice a year I generally get colds or sinus infections, and deal with a few days of sinus pressure headaches.)
-----
this entire situation has me worried, and I would like to know if anyone has any information for me. If you need more information just ask and I will be glad to give it. I am wanting to find someway of knowing what this is, and try to treat it. If someone can help, please let me know.

Worried will
