Breast Milk Vs. Formula Posted: 08-09-06 01:29am
Ok.. So heres what im thinking.. We all
know that breast milk is sposta be better
for the baby.. But what if your one of
those people who have a hard time keeping
your nutrition level good? I mean I can
never eat properly.. Im too damn picky..
So I was woundering after I have reese
would it be healthier for him if I put him
on formula if I know I will have a hard
time eatting properly?

I think it would be worth at least trying
to breastfeed, even if you only manage to
do it for the first few days so he gets
the special colostrum milk to help protect
him against viruses and stuff.

Yeah but shouldnt his nutrition be more
important then antibodies? Cause if he
isnt getting the right nutrition he wont
be healthy... Should I do maybe abit of
both to insure hes getting antibodies and
nutrition?

I breastfed for about 6 weeks with elisa
and stopped because of the pai it caused
me with cam I breastfed for three days and
said they f*ck with it....
Anyways babys can still build their immune
systems but colostrum is just easier for
them, both my kids thrived better on
formula and tended to be happier kids, the
only problem I had is they had more gas
with formula..
Only negative I could say was the gas,
once their digestive system gets better
formula sits better on them..
Nutritionally breast milk is superior.
Formula is second best. It's just a
fact, the milk you produce is produced
especially for your child with everything
baby needs.
I actually personally find it a pet peeve
when women decide against breast feeding
before baby even arrives for the reason
that they "just don't want to do it". I
get a little ticked when girls don't even
try... It seems selfish and lazy.
If you don't produce enough milk that is a
different story. If it hurts I would
actually stick with it, cause it can only
get easier, and it's all for baby's sake.
I think mothers should atleast attempt
to breastfeed. Part of becoming a
mother is personal sacrafice and I think
breastfeeding (when it's a hassle as it
can also be an amazing bonding experience
when it is going smoothly) is included in
that.

Breastfeeding is very controversial and
some women feel very badly (and guilty)
when they can't do it, or they choose not
to.
It is a personal decision. Very personal.
Everyone has their different views and we
can only make decisions for our own
selves.
You do whatever you think is best for you.
If you are not a healthy person, then
formula feed. Breastfeeding doesn't come
easy for everyone and it isn't always the
'best' option - any doctor will tell you
that.
If you suffer from ppd, have to take
medication, or your milk doesn't flow as
it should - do not feel guilty for that.
Your baby will do just fine whether it is
breastfed or bottle fed.
Good luck!
