Miscarriage? Help!
Posted: 08-11-06 11:18am

I stopped taking my birth control pills on the 4th. I got my period on the 10th... Or what i'm hoping is my period. I'm having alot of pain in my stomach and also cramping where my ovaries are. The bleeding is heavier then usual but i'm assuming it's because i'm not taking the bc anymore. I'm scared though because it seems to soon for me to be having my period after stopping the pill and this is alot more painful then normal. Is this normal? I'm kind of scared =/

I suggest you go to your doctors, but remember if you do come off your bc your period if most likely to be heavier than normal

Your body can be confused after coming off of hormonal birth control and may bleed at different times for a few months. Or until your body regulates it's own hormone balance. I doubt this would be considered a 'miscarriage' - if you just went off birth control on the 4th and had your 'period' on the 10th, you would not have ovulated yet.

Good luck at the doctor's office.

I dont see anythign wrong with getting a period right after stopping the pill. Your body is very confused right now as to why there is no more hormones running through it. Having a period so soon is probably a good thing , means you'll get a regualr cycle back that much sooner. No need to contact your dr and waste his time for this , your bleeding is normal and sounds pretty normal. If you bleed for 8+ days only then would I suggest a Dr. Visit.

Oh yess...My periods are still really heavy and i've been off bc for almost 7 months. They are getting better though. A little unpredictable. This last one was 8 days late and when it came...It came. It was really heavy. So, yea it'll take your body a while to get used to being off bc for a while. I even missed a period all togehter the second month after I stopped taking it.

This is true..I was on depo and my periods are always late, once I stopped the depo I didnt have a peroid for 5 mths..Wasnt pregnant but the doctor always prescribed something else to take..So I started taking female vitiamns to help me build the things I was losing and now my periods are 45days apart..And they are sometimes light and heavy..Irregular periods are normal when you stop using birth control...Just be very careful and use the back up method if you are having sex..Fertility rate can go up especially if you are on the pill..
