2 months ago I was diagnosed with alpha
sleep disorder. My doctore started me on
10mg of elavil. Since it wasn't doing
anything for me he increased my dosage to
25mg. I still haven't noticed a
difference but I did only started the
higher doage two days ago. I'm at a point
where I can barely function. Noone
understands how tired I am all the time.
I joke around and call myself "brain dead"
because I will frequently forget what i'm
talking about in the middle of a sentence,
or I will not be able to find the words to
finish what I am trying to say. I''ve
also become extremely forgetful. You can
tell me something and 5 minutes later I
will completely forget what you said.
I've been very irritable and moody and
have noticed a considerable amount of
weight gain (even though people tell me I
look fine). I'm only 24! I shouldn't be
going through this at this age!! I spoke
to my doctor and he said the memory loss,
loss of words, irritability, are all
symptoms of people who have alpha sleep.
Before I was diagnosed I used to work out
all the time. People would call me a "gym
nut". Since then I have no energy or
motivation to get up and go anymore. The
medicine doesn't seem to help. I really
don't know what to do. :(
do you have any suggestions?

I am not a dr but if I were you I would
talk to your dr and see about him changing
your medication or maybe asking your dr if
he knows of a specialist in the field of
alpha sleep diorder and see if you can get
a referral to him or her. Your body
needs sleep for the brain to function
correctly!
