I went out the other day and bought a prenatal heart listener from walmart. I couldnt find the heartbeat so I was thinking well maybe I will have to wait a little longer. Well a while ago I got it back out.

I heard my babys heartbeat!!!!!! And the amazing thing is, he/she was trying to kick it off my stomach!! No joke!! Im soooo in love :)

I kinda want one too! My friend got one but hers must have sucked. She could hear cars going down the road but not the baby. Weird... Do you have to be 20 weeks to hear it with yours? I read in a book that i'd have to be 20 weeks before I could hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope (i'm almost 18 weeks), so every now and then I break mine out and try to listen! I haven't heard anything yet but my stomach. Oh well...

Im 15 weeks and 5 days! When I first used mine, I could hear the air conditioner. But I always make sure everything is complete silent. It said something about 20 weeks on the box but I got it anyways. Your baby has to be in a certain postion for you to hear the beat. When I used it I put it like 6 inches below my bellybutton, kinda on the left side, and used some pressure. I heard it so it does work but if you cant hear it, dont freak out! I tryed to listen to it again this morning but all I heard was it moving around. Trust me they do work. Oh and try about 3 hours after you eat!! I think thats what my book says. I guess they are calm or sumn, I dunno lol

Not to be a downer but are you sure you weren't picking up your own heartbeat?

I've heard nothing but bad things about these and I would never get one because I know it would make me paranoid to not be able to hear it. I also heard it really only picks it up at about 8 months, but by then you've been feeling them moving around regularly for a while so why would you need this? And for the low price (i don't know exactly how much they go for) how high-tech can they be?

However, my next pregnancy I will be renting or buying a doppler. I had a missed miscarriage before this pregnancy and I was a nervous wreck this time around and would have loved to have had this, especially since I didn't feel any movement until 21 weeks. My husband said we could get one the next time around so I could actually relax and enjoy my entire pregnancy.

It costed me $20. I know it wasnt my own because it was a fast rapid heartbeat. I got it just to have fun with. I know I cant find the heartbeat everytime. I havent found it today at all, but I know not to worry because the baby has to be in a certain postion to be able to hear it. And plus they like to hide lol especially from my doctor.

Lol...Hey, more power to ya if you heard it. I wouldn't count on hearing it often!

It's actually cheap to rent a doppler. Like 20 a month. I def wanted to do that but I didn't want to waste my time. But in the case of having a missed miscarriage, I would def. Look into it!!!!!!!!
