Can Hyopglycemia cause seizures? is it related to Epilepsy?
Posted: 08-16-06 10:39am

After having a fasting blood test, my doctor has said that my BM is low and am having another blood test tomorrow, on the card was written Hypoglycemia, and this could be having an effect with my Epilipsy.

Can Hyopglycemia cause seizures, I am only wondering as I know how to bring someone around from a hypo due to my father and his diabetes so am wondering how hypos and E are releated?

Many Thanks

Hypoglycemia can cause seizures, especially in patients who already experience epilepsy. Glucose is the only substance that brain nerve cells use as a nutrient for producing energy. Without enough glucose, nerve cells do not function properly. One brain nerve cell abnormality is excessive production of nerve impulses that leads to seizures.
