23rd of next week. They do not want me to
go past my due date (the 24th) I will stay
overnight. Does anyone know what goes on
during inducing of labor? Whats the whole
shabang? I get to meet my little man next

Well im not forsure if this is what is
going to happen with you, but
1st they get you into a room and get you
situated and hooked up on iv's and etc.
Somethimes not all the time ( right away
anyways) they will give you an epidural,
and then give you petocin ( sp?) to start
rapid labor. It always doesnt work right
away for some people, but in some cases it
does. After that you will basically labor
until you have your baby.. Congrats hun.
I know that you cant wait.

Hey jgtc-
i am getting induced on the 22nd. I just
asked the same question to everyone
because I do not know what to expect.
Have you dilated at all?

Yea I am really scared. I go in tonight
at 8:00pm. They said they are going to
insert a pill into my vagina right behind
my cervix. Then in the morning at 6:00am
they are going to start me on some kind of
iv and break my water. Hopefully that
will get things started. Does breaking
your water hurt? Has anyone gone through
this process that could help me understand
what will go on?

the 'pill' is generally called cervadil
(sp?) and it is used to ripen your cervix.
Are you dilated at all? They usually do
this when there is no dilation or
effacement...
When that begins to work, they will do the
pitocin drip (the iv). Your water won't
be broken until you are over 3 or 4 cm
dilated.
Breaking your water will feel exactly like
they are checking you for dilation. It
isn't comfortable and it only lasts about
10 seconds - so it is no cause for concern
at all.
The contractions after your water is
broken are stronger, partly because there
is no amniotic fluid to cushion the baby
against your uterus.
Good luck!! You'll do fine.

get as much sleep as you can during the
night in the hospital. Make sure to
request they monitor you as little as
possible - so you don't wake up
unnecessarily (for blood pressure checks
100 times an hour). Good luck!! Can't
wait to hear how it goes!

Breaking your waters doesnt hurt at all.
They tried that with me but nothing
happened so it was more than 10 seconds
with me, but a load of mucus plug came out
instead lol. I was only 3cm dialted when
I went into labor so it wont be long for
you. Good luck and like ingi said, rest.
It is hard work and you will be tired.
Good luck and I cant wait to see pictures
of you and your baby x
