How Likely? Please Help Posted: 08-18-06 19:26pm
Hello i'm always worried about getting
pregnant so even though i'm only 18 I went
up to planned parenthood and have my
copper iud fitted. Oh well anyway here's
what i'm going to ask. A day before a got
my iud. Me and my boyfriend had sex
because because i'm thinking that I will
be safe because i'm going to have a copper
iud tomorrow and I know that iud's can be
form of emergency contraceptive that can
be inserted up to 5 days and have a 99+
efficiency. But still, I was paranoid so
we still use a condom. The condom didn't
break and stayed intact. And so, the day
after that, I got my copper iud. I'm so
happy thinking that i'm going to have 10
years of effective contraception w/o the
hormones. 1 and a half weeks after that.
I developed bacterial vaginosis and I need
to take 7 days of antibiotics. After 4
days of that I suddenly felt like
vomitting, and I always feel nauseous,
accompanied with headache and my boobs are
sore. I'm just kinda wondering is this
just side effects from antibiotics or am I
possibly pregnant. My period should come
4 days from now according to my schedule
so i'm not late yet and my sore boobs can
just be a sign of pms..But I still want
opinions...Thanks

Maybe you should stop having sex lol
reading through several of your posts you
seem to be scared everytime you have sex.
I saw at least 8 posts with you asking if
you could be pregnant with different
circumstances. That's just myyyy opinion.

It is unlikely but not impossible.
If you were on the birth control pill then
yes that can be and is affected by
antibiotics.
However the iud (rarely used in ladies who
haven't had a vaginal birth for risk of
damage to the cervix) is a physical b/c
method and isn't affected by
antibiotics.
So the symptoms you describe are more
likely to be a side effect of your meds
but it isn't impossible that you *could*
be pregnant.
