Cancer?...blackish/brownish patches on my tongue, sore throa Posted: 08-21-06 16:59pm
i went to the dentist recently, for
fillings and scaling of the gums.and about
a month later, eventhough i was keeping my
mouth really clean, brushing
regularly,flossing,mouthwash,etc..i
developed these blackish/brownish patches
on my tongue.and then a few days later
found this yellowish lump on my left
tonsil.also,i have a sore throat these
days,accompanied with a fever.i'm a smoker
too.
could it be cancer?should the lump be
removed?

It doesn't seem likely that you are
describing cancer. Rather, you may be
experiencing a bacterial infection of the
throat. You can visit your GP(general
practitioner). Penicillin will probably be
prescribed (if you are not allergic to
penicillin). You can also use aspirin to
reduce fever and an antiseptic (1% iodine
solution) for throat disinfection.
