When in the third trimester do you start
to have appointments every two weeks
instead of once a month?

Isn't it after 32 weeks?
But if you cannot make it to those
appointments, your baby won't suffer. As
long as you are healthy and eating right
with no other conditions, the baby is
growing fine inside you. They still only
do the same things they do at the monthly
appointments. Most women are perfectly
capable of monitoring their own weight at
home. ;)
after 36 weeks, you start going to
appointments every week. I think that is
so you can get to know the staff at the
doctor's office. (teasing)

Ok :) I was just wondering because I am 27
weeks on tuesday and I see the doctor when
i'm 29 weeks and then after that appt., he
said we'd see about how we're going to
start scheduling appointments after that.
So I was wondering if that's what he
meant... I'm actually excited about
seeing the doctor more often :) it means
i'm getting closer to the end :)

Will the appointment routine change? Or
will they do the same drill?

Hey hun. After 34 weeks I have been going
every week to the doc. And between 28
weeks and 24 weeks I went every 2 weeks.
The only thing different in my
appointments was at 35 weeks. They take a
swab inside ur vagina to test for a
bacteria ( which I have :p ) doc said 1
out of 3 women have it and its not
sexually transmitted or anything its just
something some women have. And so all
they do is inject some stuff in ur iv when
ur in labour so the baby is fine but said
its nothing to worry about :) but anyways,
other than that its just, they listen to
the heart beat at every appointment, blood
pressure, weight and urine sample kinda
thing. :)

When do they start checking for dilation
and effacement? Like around 36 weeks?
*sigh* the end is getting so near:) 27
weeks today! Only 13 weeks to go! :)

My doctor isn't gonna start checking for
dilation until the baby is full term. So
around 37/38 weeks.
Sometimes just getting checked for
dilation will make you dilate and go into
labor...So they want to make sure you are
full term first.
