About 1yr ago I tested pos for hpv. I had
the colposcopy, and a leep. I had high
level dysplasia. Well my dr said I could
hang tight for 4 months and do another
pap, or have a hystorectomy. I chose
along with my drs advice to go back in 4
months for the follow up pap. My husband
and I want a child badly. Today I found
out that my fu pap was as bad as the
first. What can I do do postpone the
hystorectomy?? We also have been trying
for almost 2 years for a child, is the hpv
effecting my chances that much???
Anything true and encouraging would b
wongerful.

Did your dr give you any meds for your hpv
or was your level too high. Have you
thought about a second opinion. I had to
have a complete hysterectomy due to cancer
but my child bearing days were over but
their are a lot of kids out their that
need adopting, that need a good home and a
lot of love that they will never receive
but I can understand about wanting your
own. You have to do what you feel is the
right thing to do.I am not a dr but I
realize that it is a difficult decision.
I am here for you if you need someone to
talk to! What about that shot that people
have been talking about or is that
something that the .F.D.A has not approved
yet or is that so you do not get the hpv
virus? You might ask about that and I
don't want to get your hopes up high!
All the best on your decision!

There is no medication for hpv. Take care
of yourself and your body can rid itself
of hpv on it's own.
High grade lesions do not mean
hysterectomy. Your doctor shouldn't have
told you that! You can get multiple
leeps, a lot of women have had them and it
doesn't affect fertility.
Hpv does not affect fertility. It is
basically a 'skin' condition, it affects
the 'skin' of the cervix.
Take vitamins. If you smoke, quit. Read
everything you can regarding hpv. Talk to
your doctor about it. If he isn't on
board with your plans, get another doctor.
A hysterectomy is your choice - no one
can make you do it. There are other
procedures to try first - leep, cold knife
cone, etc.
Good luck!!

About two years ago I also had the highest
severity of hpv. Has your dr talked to
you about cryotherepy? Its freezing the
infected cells off of the cervix. It
worked for me thank god. My dr talked
about a lot of different options besides
leep and the very last resort was the
hystorectomy. My doctor said that I could
have a little more trouble having kids but
it shouldn't prevent me. Then again my
sister had the lowest level of dysplacia
and they said she would never have
kids...And she has a very healthy six year
old now. Talk to your dr more about other
options and maybe about some way to help
having a baby. Don't give up yet!
