Hi there! When I was about thirty eight weeks along also, I had a lot of discharge for a period of a couple of days. What I had been told by many friends was that you actually have a "mucus plug" that you can lose shortly (or I would assume should be shortly) before you are to give birth. I am guessing some women don't lose it, I am not a doctor, so I can't tell you all the details, but I believe this is what happened to me. I was 2 centimeters dilated from 36 weeks on, I am sure they will check this at your next appt. I don't know if being dilated like that had something to do with this discharge. It was extremely thick when this happened to me. Also, I was on my feet working the whole pregnancy, I don't know how active you are but perhaps i'm just guessing this could have contributed to me losing my "plug" good luck with your delivery and I am sure everything is fine!

Your mucus plug is very thick and greenish(eew) but losing it doesn't mean you will soon go into labor. For my sister it took her 8 hours after she lost her plug. For my older sister it took a week.Everyone is different

How soon after my mucus plug passes will labor begin?
Passing a mucus plug is a sign that your cervix is dilating and your body is starting to prepare for birth. Labor could be hours, days, or even weeks away as the cervix gradually opens over time.

What does a mucus plug look like?
A mucus plug may be clear, slightly pink or blood tinged in color. It may be stringy mucus or sticky discharge. Some women may not even notice the loss of their mucus plug because there is already so much vaginal discharge during pregnancy.

As long as your discharge isnt a funny colour or smells its ok but your bound to get an increased discharge throughout your pregnancy anyway
