Ok sunday of last week I had a feeling of
something in my throat. My throat was
not sore, but I thought it would be a good
idea to take a look. I looked back and
my left tonsil was swollen, a few white
spots but nothing like I have seen when I
had strep or mono. The right side looked
fine. My immediate thought was acid
reflux because a few people in my family
have it. Well when I inspected my throat
more I saw a lump on the bottom of my
tonsil, about the size of an almond. Now
my thought is cancer, however, this did
seem to be the cause of the feeling that
something was in my throat because the
lump extends downward. It is a tad bit
lighter than my tonsil but not much. It
is relatively smooth, and is only on one
side. I originally thought it was
separate from my tonsil, but then I went
to the ent doctor and he said it was just
"the tail of my tonsil swollen" and gave
me biaxin (for possible bacterial
infection) and medrol (for the swelling).
He told me to come back in 4 days. So I
have an appt. Scheduled tomorrow. He
seems to think its nothing serious. What
does this sound like to you all? Is it
cancer? Should I get a second opinion?
I am only 23 yrs old, occasional drinker,
non smoker, used snuff for about 2 years
on and off, nothing serious.

I Have Almost Exactly the Same Thing... Posted: 10-27-06 16:09pm
I actually just posted in this forum a
long and involved history of the tonsil
that's been swollen for three weeks. I
have a follow-up doctor's appointment in a
few days, but i'm also getting myself
worked up about the cancer issue. I came
here looking for a little reassurance, but
now that I see that no one has replied to
your post, I imagine no one will reply to
mine. If you don't mind my asking, has
this been resolved for you? What ended
being the problem?
