How Effective In the Withdrawal Method? Posted: 08-25-06 07:26am
Me and my boyfriend have used the
withdrawal method on several occassions.
What are the chances of getting pregnant
with this method of "contraception"?

Very, very high. Something like 1 in 4
will become pregnant using this method
within the first year of using it; i've
heard as few as 1 in 10. Still, that is
only 4%-10% effective.

It has a large failure rate, I wouldn't
even call it a contraceptive because
inevitably pre-cum will leak before he
pulls out (well before ejaculation) and it
only takes one of those little guys to
make it happen.
If you don't want to become pregnant make
him wear a condom or get on bc

the pullout metheod
is no form of contraception. There is pre
cum and it can get you pregnant alone. If
you do not with to become pregnant you
shoudl get on birth control of some
sort.Although be careful which birth
control you use if you decide to go with
the idea.Read up on all forms before you
decide cause some can cause you problems
in ttc later on.Good luck!

Every time you put that "thing" in ..You
take a risk of getting pregnant. There
have been lots of women who get pregnant
even using some form of contraceptive. I
taught my daughter years ago, ask yourself
before you have sex with a certain man, do
I want to have a baby by this guy?", if
the answer is no...........Then sex would
most certainly be out of the question. If
your're gonna dance, you have to pay the
fiddler... I'd much rather take all the
precautions I could find, before i'd even
think about bringing a child into this
world unprepared.................

It's called a penis, no need to shy away
from biology.
Sex if for two mature people who can deal
with the consequences; whether that is
abortion, adoption, or keeping a potential
child. Birth control is there in order to
make those possibilities less likely; but
there is always a chance you may have to
someday make that choice.
Please, please... If you are going to
have sex, get protection; I can't stress
that enough. Proper protection can
prevent a world of stress and worry.

I am one of those women who recently got
pregnant using the "pull out" method. I
have a perfect 28 day cycle. I thought
that there was only a certain time period
you were likely to become pregnant. So we
shyed away from these times and used the
pull out method the rest of the time. I
can tell you from testimony that it
doesn't always work. I became pregnant in
a time when we could not afford it and
after we were past the point of wanting
more children, as we already have one that
was all we had planned on. He was even
scheduled for his vasectomy on sept 1st,
that is how sure we were that we didn't
want anymore. If you do not want to be
put into a position to make a life
altering decision, please do not rely on
this method as a form of contraception.
There are so many other options available,
and many of them that wouldn't cause any
measurable interruption to your life, like
the patch, that you change once a week and
that I have started back on until the end
of the year when they say the vasectomy
should be reliable. Good luck and I hope
you make a safe choice!!!
